The Road To Freedom traveling exhibit and awareness campaign is an ongoing, cross-country bus tour produced by ADA Watch and the National Coalition for Disability Rights (NCDR). Advance work for the tour is in partnership with the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF). The educational tour promotes an understanding of disability rights history and the "people's movement" that led to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In response to the weakening of the ADA in the courts, a separate advocacy component of the tour promotes disability rights as essential civil rights, engages the disability community in the judicial selection process and successfully called on Congress to pass the ADA Amendments Act. The Road To Freedom town meetings highlight the state and local perspective on keeping the promise of the ADA. Topics include ADA restoration, ADA enforcement, voter registration, judicial nominations, transportation, health care, youth issues and more.

YOUTH LEADERS AND POLICYMAKERS
Amidst the presidential candidates, a different campaign rolled into Iowa this year on the Freedom Bus. The Road To Freedom's Amanda Meisner was one of the youth leaders who, along with Iowa disability advocates shown here, joined Iowa Governor Chet Culver as he signed proclamations supporting Disability History Week and Road To Freedom/ADA Restoration. Youth leaders have been a key factor in the success of Road To Freedom bus stops nationwide.
